I just bought a running '71 Mav for 300 bucks, all in all it's in good shape, only 112,000 miles. The other day I replaced the Fuel Filter on the carb (It's a rebuild) and right after that I had a fuel leak. It looks like it is comeing from the gasket between the lower butterfly valve and the bottom of the float, but after replacing that gasket, I still had the leak. Now I'm thinking that it's comeing from the rod that connects the choke and the throtle together. I know the fuel is comeing from the float chamber, because when I start it I get a good amout of gas comeing out after the engine is off, and it seems to be about as much as the float chamber would hold in it, I've taken the carb apart twice now, and can't figure out how to fix it and was hoping that somebody may have had the same problem with there maverick of comet. I would greatly appriciate any suggestions or even the craziest of ideas that could posibly fix this problem so I can get my mav back on the road without it burning to the ground (Witch is obviously not an option)
Thanks,
