:I live in Wash. st and the smog checks on the west side of the state depend on the county you live in. Around Seattle side they do the equip. & tailpipe test. In the county I live in they only check the VIN when you first reregistart the car. A short time ago I brought an 82 Merc with a 460, headers, holley with some other goodies and all they checked was the VIN. It all depends on the county you live in.
