The 5.0 guys have been playing with supercharging for years, and the Vorteck
systems that they use are best described as a belt driven turbo. Horsepower
ranges all the way up into the 700 range with a 5.0. Turbos have great power
producing qualities on any engine even rotory types. On a typical 2.3 the
relatively long stroke small bore combo makes for a very high piston speed
(fps) when twisted far beyond what the engine was originally designed.
I have personally never seem a 9 second car that I could personally
consider a "street" car. With insurance,tabs,state inspection....
If you are going to consider it a street car, will it ever cross a
state line?
