I've installed 2 of the factory spoilers. If you are putting on one of these they require a 1 inch hole for each stud cause the mounting where the stud screws into sticks into the trunk outer skin too. I just drilled in the very edge of the curve with a good quality 1" metal hole drill, available at any home center. You should have some U shapped brackets that the nuts are attached to that go up & conture to the inner curve of the trunk. Hope I havent confused you.
