... the 'pilot' bit of the 1" hole saw should be right on the "edge" of the trunklid's rear "edge" so the the 1" hole you drill will be 1/2 on/through the 'top' and 1/2 on/through the 'back' of the trunklid.I found it easiest to mark the "side to side" measurement then 'center punch' the marks (pretty hard!)so there's will be a "dimple" for the bit to 'start' in.
It is attached with some special (read: OBSOLETE,of course!) contoured fasteners (like Dennis said, sort of a 'U' shape with a nut attatched at the 'bottom' of the 'U') on the inside of the lid. A bit of advice is to get some windshield 'ribbon' sealant to seal around the holes under the spoiler...or you will end up with a LOT of water in your trunk(don't ask how I know ;-)
