For the 1969 1/2 cars, 170 was standard, the 200 was optional. Same for the 1970 up thru January of 1970, when the 250 debuted. The 302 was made available in the 1971 Comet and Maverick, though later in the model year for the Maverick, I'm not sure about the Comet, but it was definitely 1971.

: All I know is that the '69.5 & '70 came with a 170cid inline "six" and was available with your choice of a 3-speed manual, a semi-automatic "stick-shift", or a c-4 automatic. The '70 Mercury Comet was the first to get the V-8 and the Mav got it in late '71 or early '72. I think the 200 was optional on the '70 but I'm guessing on that one. This is all based on what I have read so don't hate me if I'm wrong...

: : Hey guys.. What sizes did the Mav's engine/tranny come in originally?
: : (the early editions...) Like, what was the biggest size Ford offered? the straight 200? the Huge assed 302?
: : WHICH!!????

: : (yeah.. dispite the setbacks I'm still looking ahead...!!!!)
