I hope I'm not telling you something that you already know (forgive me if I am) but cars with an automatic transmission use a flexplate, not a flywheel (there IS a difference) The fact that you had to make a spacer tells me something's wrong right off the bat. Are you SURE you installed a flexplate and not a flywheel? I don't even know if that is possible since I've personally never done it...

: Thanks for the input. Yes I do have a auto trans. and it is possible that the New flywheel was put in by an idiot (me). I am going to get under it and see about that to day

: : When I put my engine in, I had a problem like yours. I did not line up the converted drain plug hole with the hole in the flex plate. When I tightened the flex plate, the drain plug bent the flex plate. The starter cranked over the engine and as soon as the engine fired the starter could not disengage from the bent flex plate. Had to replace the flex plate and the starter.

: : Like a bonehead, I almost did it again.

: : Check it out. I don't know if you have an auto trans or not.
