Once more, I beg to differ. There is NO question that there was a Shelby Maverick
constructed by the Ford plant in Mexico. The SAAC (reluctantly) adknowledge the
car, and there is plenty of paper ephemera to support the
existence of the car. It wasn't sold Stateside because of emissions and
licensing problems.
The Shelby club says that 303 of the cars were built. Chuck Stalnaker
has spoken with the former Ford plant manager who confirms
the existence of the car. Don't be seduced by the naysayers who
don't know what they are talking about on this very rare car.
I am still looking for an authentic, documented car. It would be SWEET to
restore an authentic Shelby Maverick and take it to a SAAC meeting
and watch those retentive dudes goes nuts.
