: I have a question: Someone told me that the tranny tunnel
: in a '70 Maverick was a little narrower than later models,
: and that putting a V8 in one requires notching the tranny
: crossmember. Is this just for an auto on the floor? Also,
: I heard that it was just as easy to put a 351W in a Mav as
: it was to put a 302 in. Is this true? Thanks!

Well, they told you wrong. The tunnels are the same. I have installed two 302s in '70 Mavericks, and a 302 in a '71 and I notice no difference whatsoever.
No, not as easy to put in a 351 in any model as a 302 because of header-to-shock tower interference problems. It can be done successfully, but a really professional job is a LOT more than
just a 'shoe in.'

Hope this helps.

Mark
