Although I have been visiting this site quite a bit, this is the first time I have written. Luckily my mechanical skills are slightly better than my computer skills, not much tho. HAHAHHAHA. Anyway, I'm in middle(hopefully closer to the end than the beginning) of a 9 year Maverick project and am glad to see others in the same 'boat'. My first engine rebuild was the 302 for my "other wife". Does anybody know if that pesky aluminum plate that sits between motor and tranny is a must? Mine got warped (long story) and wondering if I can just leave it off???? Yes getting a newer one is not that big a deal, but why use it if it doesn't serve a purpose. Thanks for the help...
