: Mark, use cast or hypercytic pistons, cast or moly rings, personally Hyper pistons, moly rings. Use the Edlebrock Pref.or Weiand cams & manifolds carb size 600 Holley vaccum secondarys.Keep the compression between 9.0 to 9.5 . Two bbl carb is tough on manifold selection. Factory Ford dist. are good, Accel is a good ane also. MSDs are over rated and to costly. Port out the exhaust side of the heads, use comp cams roller rockerarms and long primary tube headers, better torgue curve for Houston driving.
Looks like this is going to be a pretty straight forward rebuild but I will know more when I open her up and see what the wear and tear looks like.

: Anyway I know that you guys have tinkered with the 302 so give me some advice on what I should get. Here is the goal a respectable street car that sounds quick but doesn't idle too rough. I will be running a stock 2 barrel carb because of the budget but electronic ignition may be a possibility.

: Houston driving requires a car that has some get up but must be able to cruise at 70 all day long.
