I looked at a '72 Grabber today, it was very clean and mostly stock but it had a 4-speed trans, I know that the 3-speed manual was supposed to be the only manual trans but this setup looks original, the steering column does not have any of the signs that it was a 3-on the tree.
As I said the car is mostly stock ( it has an open element air cleaner and a dual exhaust with stock manifolds) the current owner is the 3rd and he says it had the 4-speed in it when he bought it and that he also thought it was unusual and he thought that the Mavs only had the 3-speed.
So my question(s) is(are) could it be a factory 4-speed (very unlikely)?
could it be some kinda of engineering study car (wow that would be cool!!!)
could it be that someone did a really clean swap (I vote for this)?
I have to wonder, what would the parts come from to make this such an easy(?) and clean swap? Thanks, Scott
