MAYBE I can shed some light on the subject. I once wrote a letter to the head tech man at Hotrod magazine asking about the strength of an FMX
He said that it was a medium duty trans. that when properly modified would be a little stronger than a c-4. Also I once owned a 71 galaxy with a stock 351w and an FMX,I was planning to put this combo into a Maverick (never did) so I installed a B+M transpack in the FMX . That was the best shifting trans.I`ve ever had! the car would spin second and bark third!!
