The front windshield only costs $80 new, and for the extra couple bucks you get a professional installation and if they crack it they give you another one. After my last experience with glass, it's the one part on a car that i would never touch. Also, the professionals use rust-preventer/sealant that isn't readily available to my knowledge. Just have them do it, they'll do an on-site installation free.
: for the glass, go to a salvage yard and find some out of a mav or comet. The yard where i live wants $65 for the windshield and $35 for the back window, which i'll probably be buying since someone broke both out on my mav.
