First of all congratulations on the purchase of your maverick! I advise you to remove all prior bondo on the fenders as any defects will soon reaapear on new work. My preference of transmission fluid is to find type F and use it. Mobil 1 will cost you more for each oil change and has the same 3000 or 3 month recommended change. But synthetic does have two advantages to conventional motor oil. The first being upon cold startup synthetic flows faster, which slows down intitial startup wear and tear. Also synthetic oil withstands high temperature over conventional oil. I personally do not and have never used synthetic oil but know of several car collectors who swear by it.
: I just bought a '72 Maverick and I am looking for advise on a couple
: of things.First, I need to repair some dents in the front fenders, but
: the dents are on top of older repair work. Do I need to remove 100%
: of the old Bondo before hammering and filling the dents, or just the cracked areas?
: Second, what is the BEST transmission fluid and motor oil (brand and type) to use.
: Multipurpose ATF (claims to be compatible with C-4) or specific type F?
: Mobil 1 was recommended to me for motor oil. Should I be concerned about using synthetic oil?
: I have zero info from the previous owners about what was used.
: The motor is a 200.

: p.s. I am thrilled to find such dedicated support for the Maverick online!
