I don't know of any coatings for pistons, etc (probably not worth the expense), but I used Glyptal in my engine for the cast surfaces that aren't exposed to combustion. The coating is water & oil -proof. You brush it on all the cast surfaces to make them non-porous. This keeps oil from soaking in and making sludge. Also helps oil drain back into the oil pan faster. Don't use it on machined surfaces as it will not stick (and isn't necessary, anyway). After 28k I pulled my valve covers & oil pan and it looks like brand new. Eastwood Company sells the stuff -CP

: Anyone look into doing some engine coatings? I know that I can send my hedman headers back to be coated, but has anyone done pistons and valve chambers? Any suggestions on who is the highest quality?
