Brent,

Take a look at my black EFI Maverick on the top of page 4 in the photo gallery. I had the same situation as you - straight bumpers with lousy chrome. I couldn't see paying $275 each for re-chromed bumpers, so I had mine sandblasted by my body shop and painted to match the car. They did an excellent job and it cost a hell of a lot less than the alternative.

: Im going to be repainting my car this spring...the bumpers are rusty but straight..i was thinking of just painting them the same color as the car...i tried grinding a small area of the chrome off with a high speed disc sander with 24 grit...but all it did was scratch the shit...how do they do this when they rechrome the bumpers? sandblast it or something? i think ill try that next...
