The 3.50's should work well, without compromising your mileage too much (but keep in mind it will get worse). Do you have another center "chunk" or just a gear set? A gear set can be put into your 3.00:1 "chunk," using your existing posi unit. If you have the 3.50's already in a chunk you'll have to swap the posi out of the old chunk and into the new. A rearend or transmission shop can do this work. As for speedometer gears, Ford still stocks most of them. Call your dealer and tell them you want a speedometer gear for a '65 Mustang with 3.50 rear gears and an automatic trans. This should be close. If the speedo is too fast, order a 1974 Mustang II gear (3.55). Good luck. I run 3.70's and I like them alot. 3.50's would get me over 80 comfortably, though, which would be nice. -CP

: The converter blew out of my Maverick, so I ordered a new one. Anyway its a little looser then stock (B&M Torkmaster 2000) that should have around 1800-2100 stall. I still run 3.00 gears with a tractionlock. would 3.50 gears work with my combination ok? And will my tractionlock wirk with the 3.50s or do I need another one for it? Its still an 8" BTW. I'm trying not to totally kill my milage which has been pretty good so far, but want a little more get up and go off the line. DOes Ford still have the correct gears for my speedometer for use with lower gears? I'm running 235-60 14s on the back with factory slots.
