The most likely cause is Charlie's second sugestion, although probably not a broken part. There is a small cardboard tube surrounding the turn signal indicators to block out dash lights. They are just taped into place until the dask is assembled. It probably slipped out due to vibrations over the years. Just a matter of taking the dash apart & reattaching it.
