If you've replaced the cap and the radiator is new and it's overheating, it's time to check some less obvious conditions.

1) Check the belt tightness - is it possible that the belt is slipping?

2) Check to see that the thermostat is in the right way

3) Do you have the right water pump? Later model 302 water pumps spin the opposite direction.

4) Do you have the right pulleys on the crank and water pump?
