:Rear spacing is the distance from the inside mounting surface of the rim to the area on the outside of the rim where the tire bead seals.
Most rear drive cars use about 3 1/2 inches rear spacing, offset is the measurement from the mounting surface to the center line of the rim. Front wheel drives have allot of negative offset due to the driving mechanics.
Best thig is to find a tire/rim store that has allot of rim selection to mount them and look at them. Most tire shops just carry what "normally" works and sell them to everyone because most people don't know the difference and just look at the looks of the rim on the car. That's how you see all those rims with tires sticking out the fenders.
Everyone stresses the importance of the rim offset. So what is the proper offset? Thanks Russ
