Good question Charlie, now that you spark my memory. The 'solid state' ignition is not the same as the duraspark. I have a 78 302 in mine now and I remember something different, but cannot remember the details of it. When I find the info I will forward it to you. Dan

: Thanks, Dan, I found that Duraspark was first offered in 1977. The distributor caps changed in 1975, so I assumed something in the ignition changed. Was "solid-state" the same as Duraspark? Thanks -CP

: : Charlie, maybe you could add the fact that 1975 was first year for the 'solid state ignition', now referred mostly as electronic ignition.

: : : Hehe, just kidding. I am compiling a list of the year-to year changes for the Ford Maverick and Mercury Comet. This is the second post of this but beleive me there is much more info now. If you have something to add, or think something is wrong, then please e-mail me or leave a post on the board. I will add this to my page after it is reviewed by you guys. -CP
