Mine did this, and eventually the battery died. Also might check the voltage regulator. If it isn't working right, it will try to over change the battery. Light might come on.
Well, I only drove him the once before I started taking it apart but I don't recall any power serges...the connections were pretty bad tho' so I might just replace the VR for good messure...
