: I know that's the prevailing opinion about these engines, but I just happen to be a fan, based on my own personal experience. I can't count the number of 5.0's that I roasted with my 4,500+ pound behemoth XL. I've owned three 302's in the past and have never been impressed with the small block (however I'm sure there are examples out there that would change my mind). You're right about the weight, though. When I put a 4v intake on my 390, it took two of us to lift it & lower it in place, with no minor effort. There's certainly nothing light about them. I guess a 429 or 460 would be a more logical (and economical?) choice if I'm going to consider a big-block. Thanks for your thoughts.

:: Earl, FEs where the high perf. Fords of old. They're really a piece of automotive history. How about the Mustang in Bullit. A 390 4sp. How about a Thunderbolt! I don't think anyone would turn down a 427 side oiler! I saw one in an auto trader ready to run $8500.(engine only) Put it in a Mav with crossver subframe connectors Must.II rack and coilovers, close ratio toploader, 9" and you've made a newer T-bolt.Minus the litewieght goodies of course.FEs are always going to have a following. I'll take a good hipo 390. Bill
