I had a 600 cfm Holley from a 76 Ford truck that had a 390.I don't think 600 cfm's is too much for a 302, although I didn't get the performance out of my engine with the Holley on it.My secondaries didn't open(the diaphram was messed up) and I could never get the darn thing properly tuned, so I pulled it off and replaced it with an Autolite 2bbl carb., my performance still wasn't that great and my milage actually decreased, I was getting 14mpg and then with the 2 bbl. I was getting 11mpg, ofcourse my engine only had 1200 miles on it , now after a few k miles more I get about 17mpg with my 2bbl. carb., one of the main reasons why my Holley didn't perform is because it was worn out, turned out the primary shafts were worn causing an air leak, and the base gasket was leaking, along with my secondaries not opening, I just didn't have the money at the time to repair/replace the carb., but I am saving some money up and I am going to get a new Holley because I have seen what a Holley can do to make performance better(they may leak but they out perform anything else).I would personally recommend a Holley.
