On the street stop light to stop light a 300 will walk all over a 302.
Inline engines put out 30% more torque than an eqivalent engine of the same displacement. On the street I like inlines, but as far as the drag strip goes, the 302 would win if they were both stock. Your right about 302's having more usable horsepower in a broader range.
