I have had my car up to 125mph @ 5300 RPMs and have never thrown a belt...
: whenever i found myself exceeding speeds of 90-100 mph, or revved it excessivey hard... the power-steering belt would always come off.
: under normal circumstances it was fine. i just think the car actually steers too easily, and it could be dangerous at high speeds.
: i did remove the AC unit, and it had a bracket that also was about a 1/8 inch spacer, on the power-steering, mounting stud (into head or block). i thought i had compensated for the gap with a stack of washers. apparently it wasnt exact. i can live with the power steering, but if there is a relatively simple/inexpensive way to remove it, i dont need it.
: i also understand that the addition of headers to a maverick is extremely difficult with P/S equipped cars. i think there is a kit that allegedly moves the power steering unit to new place. from what i understand, it isnt very effective. i have a friend who has an identically equipped 67 mustang, and he regrets adding headers because it wasnt a perfect fit as planned.
: is this kit more effective on a maverick than a mustang?
