Ford motors are designed far better than Chevys, simply because they were designed almost a decade later. Ford's NASCAR engines are much better than Chevy's, even after Chevy's "SB2" heads (which are just like Ford heads, by the way). Your measurements are of a Chevy 350 and a Ford 351. Mustang 5.0's proved that the 302 is as good or better than the 350 Chevy.
Oh, and are you implying that because a Chevy 350 is smaller that if Chevy designed the 460 it would fit in a compact car? That's just ridiculous. -CP

: Like, for example, i just learned that the Chevy 350 is only 18 1/2 inches wide. Now WHY did ford have to make their engines 24-26" wide??? It just makes them heavier, and have more vibration!! Not only that, but if they weren't so wide, you probably COULD fit a 460 in a maverick without removing half the front end. ...sometimes ford just doesn't make sense...
