I too like anything American and high-performance AS LONG AS it looks good too. Personally I have always wanted an '84 Trans Am (which is a Pontiac with a chevy engine)and I WILL get one someday; but I will never get rid of the Maverick (my first car). I am not brand loyal although I don't care for too many Chevys...The only ones I really like are the 'Vette and the '69 Camaro. I really love Fords, Oldsmobiles, Mopars and other makes...I think the whole "Ford Vs. Chevy" thing is so juvenile and ignorant...It is all a matter of taste. I do think my Mav is better than any Camaro though...and 5.0 Mustangs are just plain UGLY...The Maverick has a GREAT body-style but when they started putting the big bumpers on them ('74-'77) they became rather ugly....the cool thing about 'em was they have disc brakes & electronic ignition; When you can put these two items on a '70-'73 model, you got the best of both worlds and with out all that emissions crap...

: Some people just frown on originality. Funny, I thought this was basis for Hot Rodding. I
: think the maverick is a cool ride part because it is different and part because it is really
: simple sporty looking car. Mine is a '73 2 door with a 250 and while owning a Maverick is
: different enough, I am the one who posted a thread back in Oct about putting in a
: computerized turbo 2.3L. I quit following the thread but checked back and apparently it
: caused quite a stir, obviously the thick headed (and I mean that in a good way) old time
: "No replacement for displacement" (mostly true) people versus the willing to change
: people.
: This is the main reason myself, my friends and even other Ford fans can't stand
: the typical Hot Rodded Mustang 5.0L. Granted, some are nice and run well, but most I
: think are just a body to put the standard whale tail rear wing and trin nostril hood on.
: Now just as a shocker, I do love the maverick because it is different and it is a
: real neat car, but my real pride and joy is a '73 Camaro (I can feel the flames coming).
: I know everbody is saying he's talking about originality and uniqueness and he owns a
: Camaro???? The car that gets so much attention, people of rarer cars coined car craft mag
: Camaro Craft. I'll tell you what, here in New England chances are 5 times better that you
: will see a Maverick or Comet (and there aint too many of those)
: than a 67-77 Camaro. Oh, and I don't include carshows,
: I am a car enthusiast that not only likes to work on 'em but to drive 'em daily. Trailer
: queens suck, they should of restored a numbers matching refrigorator and left the car for
: somebody else's enjoyment.
: Bottom line, I like everbodies cars but as long as they are high peformance
: and American. Being different within these limitations (Oxymoron?) is the
: basis of car crafting, putting shag carpeting on the roof of your Eldorado is different but
: why? Disliking the plague of these hopped up imports is allright with me.

: Wrench on!
