Some people just frown on originality. Funny, I thought this was basis for Hot Rodding. I
think the maverick is a cool ride part because it is different and part because it is really
simple sporty looking car. Mine is a '73 2 door with a 250 and while owning a Maverick is
different enough, I am the one who posted a thread back in Oct about putting in a
computerized turbo 2.3L. I quit following the thread but checked back and apparently it
caused quite a stir, obviously the thick headed (and I mean that in a good way) old time
"No replacement for displacement" (mostly true) people versus the willing to change
people.
This is the main reason myself, my friends and even other Ford fans can't stand
the typical Hot Rodded Mustang 5.0L. Granted, some are nice and run well, but most I
think are just a body to put the standard whale tail rear wing and trin nostril hood on.
Now just as a shocker, I do love the maverick because it is different and it is a
real neat car, but my real pride and joy is a '73 Camaro (I can feel the flames coming).
I know everbody is saying he's talking about originality and uniqueness and he owns a
Camaro???? The car that gets so much attention, people of rarer cars coined car craft mag
Camaro Craft. I'll tell you what, here in New England chances are 5 times better that you
will see a Maverick or Comet (and there aint too many of those)
than a 67-77 Camaro. Oh, and I don't include carshows,
I am a car enthusiast that not only likes to work on 'em but to drive 'em daily. Trailer
queens suck, they should of restored a numbers matching refrigorator and left the car for
somebody else's enjoyment.
Bottom line, I like everbodies cars but as long as they are high peformance
and American. Being different within these limitations (Oxymoron?) is the
basis of car crafting, putting shag carpeting on the roof of your Eldorado is different but
why? Disliking the plague of these hopped up imports is allright with me.

Wrench on!
Chris
