The white ash deposits are either a leaded gas additve or small amounts of oil depsoits. If you're running a lead/octane additive that's the source, if not your valve seals/guides are a little worn. But not enough to be any kind of a problem, it is a normal state as long as it doesn't become large custing gubs.
I have a Mallory Electronic Ignition. I have been running the spark gap as factory 32-36 for a 65 289. Should I open the gap up to 45-50?
: Also...I just replace the plugs, and the tips are prefect, but they have a white soot on the metal finger. Any suggestions as to mixture?
