: I just replaced my starter. Now right after it fires, and is running. I get this ticking/grinding/ringing sound for a few seconds. Its not really loud but noticable. I sounds like the flexplate is hitting the gear on the starter. I'm assuming that the starter gear is not returning to the "at rest" position. I does go away after about 10 seconds or so. Does a starter have a "break in period", or do I need to crawl back under this thing, and try a new one? Russ

Did ya double check that the parts people gave ya the right starter- ya never know - also check that evrything - electrical wise is ok - maybe still giving juice somehow for extra few seconds ?
Maybe take off the inspection cover on your trans if you can and shine a light around to see if there is any physical damage done first - about the "break in period" - don't know.Just a couple things that I would do to investigate a little - good luck!
