This might sound crazy,but if you happen to be running a chrome distributor hold down clamp
It could be the reason for the timing retard
I had one on my car and the problem is that the slick chrome finish on the underside of it caused
the disributor to slip no matter how much I tightened it down, I resolved the problem by useing a file to remove the chrome plateing from the underside of the hold down.
