Jeri; hold off before you buy a new engine. It sounds to me like you have a broken exhause manifold. When the engine warms up, the crack or cracks widen and you get the noise. Take a good look. If you have a six cylinder, this is a very common problem, no matter which 6 you have. On the V-8 it is not as common, but still happens. Hope this helps, and let us know what you find.
