The spring on the 'stat goes in the intake manifold facing AWAY from the radiator...

: got the stock fan shroud, I thought higher timing runs cooler, to a point of course? I set the timing lower it overheats faster.
: its a different thermostat, unless I got two bum ones, which is possible. I had the light and the temp guage hooked up, two temp holes in the intake. the stock one is on the left side of the intake, just in front of the throttle linkage, the temp guage is behind the thermostat, where my original sending unit was. I'm not so sure about there being enough air moving, I was wondering if somehow the air is shearing over my stock big ass bumper, it ONLY does it running 75+mph, in drive, overdrive, whatever, could be the engine is under enough of a load that it only shows up there, I drive it like grandma *most* of the time... any hard acceleration is short in this podunk little town.
: I've flushed the block once before, still running my original water pump, so I'm not going to assume there's nothing wrong with it, its about the only cooling part left untouched.
: just to make sure, which way is the stat suppose to face? I may have it in there backwards. pointed end towards the radiator?
