My cars run around 160 on the freeway 170 on
the street. I use many different things to help
cool my car down. One is I have a 4 core
radiator using the stock tanks. I also run water
wetter from redline. But the shroud and fan
are stock. But the two of the biggest difference
in any cars I have had problems with over heating
was using a raybestos (i can't spell.. Mr Gasket
makes one too) high flow thermostats.
I use a 160 out here in CA. FYI the flow
area of a stock replacement thermostat is
around the size of a quarter wouldn't you
agree? However the high flow ones are
almost the size of a half dollar. As you can see
I will make a difference. In my other Mav
I did something trick (its not a new idea of course)
I put a plate behind the water pump impeller. By
doing this it helps flow water more efficiently there
for cooling if better. When I installed this it
dropped it 10 degrees. However in the winter time
it ran too cold. About 150 going 50 mph. Doing
those things will help lots with cooling. However
it sounds like you have other problems as other
people have said. If any of these things are bad
none of the above things are going to work.
Water pump bad? Radiator clogged? Thermostat
not opening? How about the Cap? Are you using a
sealed system? Or a open one? Catch can?
Check those out. But trust me on the other ideas on
cooling…. it works. being out here in traffic in the
summer can be hell. Good Luck!
