: I realize that this is third, or maybe fourth, or even fifth party info, but I recall seeing a posting by someone who'd supposedly been in contact with the Shelby Corporation about the legendery Shelby Mavericks and their response was "Never was no such thing", or words to that effect. I wouldn't gamble on whether they've existed or not, one side nor the other, but then again, isn't it odd that not a trace of evidence seems to be available from anywhere as to the existence of these unicorns? John B.

I would bet the main reason you don't see them or hear of them is because of the Shelby Maverick being exclusive to Mexico. If you sell 300 specialized vehicles such as those down there, they would blend right in. Many cars of the period have been repainted atleast once down there, and many people don't consider Mavericks high on the wanted list either. If any were made(I believe there were), they were probably repainted and used as beaters. If any survive today(because they aren't high dollar cars), you wouldn't recognize them and the owner isn't going to think they have a rare car and check the VIN. It is going to be much harder to find a Shelby Maverick than a Shelby Mustang. Mustangs are considered top be worth money. I mean, how many people you know have a 6 cyl 65 Mustang and they think it is the rarest car in the world? Not so for "most" Maverick owners and those people who dont even know what a Maverick is or who built it and arent going to know it is valuable. This is my speculation on why we haven't seen any Shelby Mavericks.
