I realize that this is third, or maybe fourth, or even fifth party info, but I recall seeing a posting by someone who'd supposedly been in contact with the Shelby Corporation about the legendery Shelby Mavericks and their response was "Never was no such thing", or words to that effect. I wouldn't gamble on whether they've existed or not, one side nor the other, but then again, isn't it odd that not a trace of evidence seems to be available from anywhere as to the existence of these unicorns? : I disagree that the general consensus is that they are mythical. More than one source has said the same thing: 300 were built in 1971. This is stated in the Shelby Registry which also lists Mustangs and Cobras. However the Mexican Shelbys (both Mustangs and Mavericks, and some Mustangs have been documented) were built by a contracter (not by Ford or Shelby American) so the record-keeping and documentation sucks. -CP
