I hung out on the ford six performance fourms for a long time thinking I was keeping my 250. I changed over to an electric fan...that helped. thay say it gives you back around 15 horeses. For around fifty dolars you can get a duraspark distributer...just ask for a 79 fairmont distributer at auto zone. A header will be cheaper than a valve job. Also try to hook up with a 78-80 250 head. That will give you hardened valves, larger valves and a larger intake (AKA log).
