I got some channel, drilled it up to bolt onto the unibody frame rails. Now, its sitting pretty much under the tranny with no mount, there is no way a mount is gonna work without complete rerouting of my exhaust, which may happen, just not soon. I need to get the car mobile. What I'm thinkin is drill 2 holes through the channel and mount the tranny directly to the channel, sort of solid tranny mount. Now, will this cause trouble with normal motor mounts? I've got a bud runs halfway stock cars, he ran solid tranny mount and reg motor mounts, it cost him a tranny, but he was pushin 700+ hp. Will I have a problem runnin my tranny like this, or do I need to make a cushion of sort to allow for drivetrain flex?
this is pretty much the same text I posted on a few other smallblock Ford sites, don't take offense I asked other people too, I ask as many geniuses as possible :)
I want to find out if any of you know of a better way to do this with the Mav/Comet in particular, apparently mine doesn't work out like previous Mav/AOD swaps(I think I read up on earlier year models), nor does it match Mustangs either. I've read Tom's Maverick page, don't have any torinos around here that I can find.
