I agree with you about swapping VIN numbers... it's very uncool. I'm carving up a 71 Grabber because my 71 2-door is in better restorable shape, but I certainly don't plan on swapping out the VIN plates. Besides, is there really any "value" in doing that? Given that these cars have very little monetary value, what difference does it make if it was a factory Grabber, or if it was a factory 2 door? This is especially true of the early years (like mine), where my Grabber has a 200 6 cylinder, four-lug drum brakes... nothing to brag about. Surely there's got to be some easy way to tell if a VIN has been swiped or not.
