You'll make more power for less money out of a 302. (The expense of changing over to the 302 not included). You can use your 250 torque converter but will need a new flexplate. The Crown-Vic water pump is just a cheap aluminum water pump that will work on the Maverick if you don't have power steering. The 250 tranny should hold up fine with a mild 302. The 250 converter has a higher stall than a V8 one. You should get front discs believe me. For more info visit my website Maverickgrabber.com and click on 'Maverick & Comet Technical Information' and 'V8 swap'. -CP

: I have a question...I really want a 302 but I have this thought that the 250 six could be hopped up. How many horses can be squeezed from a straight six? Which is more cost effective?
: I will most likely go for the 302...so the other question is, what torque converter is needed and what's this stuff about a Crown-Vick water pump? How long will my C-4 last with the 302? also the front of the car already rides high so can I keep my current springs with the swap assuming I get a bigger sway bar? PS my car is a 73 2door drums all around. If I drive safely how bad is that? Motor mounts I know. The tranny cross member I don't. It's an auto on the tree: Headers vs. exhaust manifolds? If I do this I need to do it in one day. Apartment rules: NO WORKING ON VEHICALS IN PARKING LOT and it's my only car (there is always the bus though)
: Thanks
