I've been talking to a friend with a machine shop about making new z-bars. He's interested, so I took a look at the bar I have and at the Ford 1974 Chassis shop manual, Page 16-03-4. I'd been told by another Mav owner about the 2 piece bushing and retaining clip needed on the engine mounted pivot, but I'm confused about the diagram which seems to show a second bushing (no. 7k530)on the same side. This bushing is the same as the one on the frame side, which is much more readily available than the two piece bushing. Am I reading this diagram wrong? If not, why are there two bushings on one side? In any case, can anyone think of a good reason why we couldn't make the new z-bar to accept the same bushing as the Mustang, on the engine side? This would make it a lot easier to obtain the bushings, since, as far as I know, the only way to get the two piece bushing is from Perogie Enterprises and they charge $38.00 for it! Any advice about how to improve the design in the making of new bars would be helpful, hopefully to many, as we hope to knock off a few and make them availble to others. Thanks. John B.
