I had to hire a lawyer because the forms here in Indiana were a little more complicated than what I wanted to deal with. I had to file incorporation papers with the Secretary of State's Office. I then filed with the federal govt. for an EIN number (got it). I now have to file for Not-For-Profit status with not only the feds, but the state as well.

By Laws are being written by the lawyer right now.

In the type of corporation I set up, officers are not elected, but appointed by the board of directors.

The annual meeting is held the weekend of the Round-Up.

The other items I am still working on.

Just a bunch of legal mumbo-jumbo just so I can open up a checking account, deposit checks, and pay for things!!

I do appreciate the support Tom, and I have only received about a 1/3 of the renewals back in...so send them in or I am naming names (Ha, Ha)

: : Well, in case you didn't know, as of December 31, 2000, the International Maverick/Comet Club, Inc. no longer exists. What I have put in it's place in a brand new club, made up of all the former members of the IM/CC. The new club is called: Maverick/Comet Club International, Inc. It is not a big change but hopefully a big change in how things will be run.

: : As many of you know, I took over the presidency of the club. I also had to set up a not-for-profit incorporation in the State of Indiana. I had to hire a lawyer and a tax consultant to get this all done. We had enough money in the IM/CC treasury to pay for this. With the "old" name already in existence as a "corporation"....it was a lot easier to just start a new corporation with a new name than it was to move the existing "corp" here to Indiana. Also, if for some reason there were legal problems with the old club, I would avoid those by starting a new club.

: : So back on the main message board page, you will see a link to the new club website up in the right hand corner. I encourage you to check it out.

: : There have been many problems in the past with members not getting added to the database in a timely matter...or not getting items they purchased at all. These issues were out of my hands before...but not anymore. If there is a problem...I will take care of it.

: : I appreciate all of you in your understanding on this, and I think you will find the club will run better than ever.

:
: Graig:Why did We need a lawyer and tax consultant? Did You file a SS-4,and if so whats our EIN? (I belive thats all that was needed, and cost the price of a stamp).I understand the name change for banking pupose only!

: As a dues paying member for a number of years and all else who are,I belive We are entitled to the following.

: Copy of the By Laws (when Adopted)
: Names of all "elected" Officers.
: The term of Officers.
: Date time and place of the annual business meeting where members present can
