: In order to put the 5-lugs on your car, you would need to switch the entire axle, not just the axle shafts. Yes, there are two different bearing sizes between the 4-lug and 5-lug. If you can get the right bearing, than it can be done, but I recommend switching the entire axle. Of course, I am assuming that your 1970 has an 8" in order to switch "just" the axle shafts.

: Hope this helps.

: : 1)Would an 8" rear end have two different bearing sizes or would I not have to worry about that. I have a four lug axles right now. I want to go up to five lug with a different 8". My car is a 1970 Maverick and the donor car would be a 1977 four-door I believe.

: : 2)Can I fit a 245/50/16 tire under the front wheel wells if I cut ever so slightly the fender lip? Since I would not want anymore backspacing or offset would the tires stick out too far? Could I cut the inside frame rails any? Lower the upper control arm to clear the rim? I want ultimate performance and am willing to cut up my Maverick to do it. So any suggestions would be appreciated.

: : Any help is appreciated
I RECENTLY DID THE 4 TO 5 BOLT AXLE ONLY SWAP IT WAS A PIECE OF CAKE .
I ALSO HAD LARGER FRONT TIRES ON THE FRONT 235/60R14 WHEN I TURNED INTO DRIVEWAYS THE TIRE HIT MY FENDER YOU WILL LIKELY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM .THE REAR WHEELWELLS WILL FIT 295/50R15 AND LOOK REAL COOL
