Alright Mav gurus... What's up here?

I took Alice out for a little jaunt today (man that v-8 is a gas sucker!) and all was well untill we got home.
As you may or may not know, Alice's colum shift is "backwards" and up till today it was just a matter of remembering (and counting) what is where. We had NO problems or stickyness throughout the day until I got home.
When I got home, she wouldn't shift into Park, she only went as far as reverse (not fun!). Tried again and this time she wouldn't move out of Drive. I (hated to do it without putting the tranny in park) turned her off and tried again. Still stuck.
Put the ol' wheel chocks under her and let it be. Tried calling Dave in Monroe (he who did the swap) and after 4 hours...
Soooooooooo???
