On my Maverick the idler arm/center link are connected using a bushing (metal-rubber) but I have had trouble with vertical play even with new bushing (I may have installed it upside-down?). If the bushing were to actually wear the hole in the centerlink it could be a problem, but I haven't seen any signs of this, more a problem with the way the idler arm connects thru the bushing. Hope this helps...
