Yes, you have to get a new gasket when you take out the windshield.
You can also swap the package tray for the glovebox with one little hitch. If the car has factory AC, then you have to use a package tray from a factory AC car. If it doesn't have AC, then you can use the standard package tray. You have to get the brackets that go with the package tray, and you have to route the heater/AC vents that used to be in the glove box assembly into the package tray assembly. I did this to a 1977 years ago, so I can't remember if you have to drill any extr holes or not....but probably.
