I would suggest jacking up the car and putting it on (4) floor jacks. Get under the car (make sure it is safe first) and remove the shifting rod from the trans. Then click the tranny forward all the way to park. Then get inside the car and place the lever all the way in park. With the tranny firmly in park, and the shifter on the column firmly in park...re-attach the linkage to the tranny.
Hopefull this is all that is is. You might want to get a friend to help.

: Please help me if you have any info. I just bought a 70 Maverick and I love it, but it will roll if you put it in park. The e-brake needs work but I know the car should stay in one place. When my friend and I were working on it under the hood, the tranny slipped into reverse and the car tried to get away. If you have any info, please help. It is a 200 straight six and I belive it has a c-4. One other thing is that the column shifter does not click through gears like my friends 72 Grabber did. Thanks
