shifter should work easy. You just have to figure out where to cut the hole in the floor board. Linkage length will dictate that. Make it only big enough to fit the shifter thru. Bench seat is probably to wide. Cougar was a wider car.
: I am trying to convert my coloum shift auto to a floor shift. My father offered me the old floor shifter and hardware from his '67 cougar ( he has a 289 that he swapped out to a top loader four speed ) and I was wondering if it would fit. My mav is a '77 with a 302 C-4 auto trans. I have heard others talk about a reversed shift pattern when going to a floor shifter. What should I look for? Also, will the bench seats work or will I need to find some buckets?
: Thanks in advance for any help
